Stretch
Just taking a few minutes a day to fully stretch out your body can do wonders for your health, flexibility, muscles, and balance. It doesn’t take long and it is a wonderful way to wake your body up after a good night of sleep.
Eat Fresh Food
Eating healthy in most parts of America is becoming more of a challenge on a daily basis. One of the easiest ways to get the nutrients you need is to eat fresh food (extra points if you eat it in it’s raw state!) Organic options are best and chances are, there is a farmers market near you with prices better than your local grocery store.
Have Conversations Without Looking At Your Phone
A lot of people don’t know this but being five feet away from your phone won’t actually kill you. When connecting with a friend who lives far away, your phone is definitely your best option but when you are out with a friend and you are actually sitting across the table from them, please put down the phone. Your text messages will still be there after lunch.
Read
I know so many people who love to read but don’t make the time for it. Not only is reading enjoyable but it is also a great way to relax. If you don’t have a lot of extra time, remind yourself that reading is beneficial to your health.
Be Grateful
Being grateful every day is a great practice. It only takes a minute or two to think about one thing you are grateful for and write it down. Not only does it remind you to be thankful for both the big and the small things but; it is a great record of what to be thankful for when you are having a bad day.
Be Active
Now more than ever people are spending their time sitting behind computers and various other screens. Obesity is an epidemic in our country and many health issues related to obesity are on the rise. A little physical activity every day will help fight against a number of both physical and mental health problems.
Get Outside
I get it. The world inside a computer is amazing. You can see things you will never see in real life and read about people who you will most likely never meet. However, the world outside your door is pretty fantastic, too. So open up that door, cross the threshold, and spend a little bit of time out in the real world. Even a 10-minute stroll outside is better than nothing!
Cook
We know that eating healthy can be challenging but it is a lot easier when you take the time to prepare your own food. You don’t have to be Rachel Ray or Wolfgang Puck to whip up something delicious in the kitchen. In fact, just a few ingredients and a little bit of time can be enough for a wide variety of delicious options.
Meditate
Meditation decreases anxiety, increases creativity, improves emotional stability, sharpens the mind, lowers high blood pressure, decreases headaches, improves the immune system, and so much more. You can do a guided meditation that only takes ten minutes a day so there is really no reason not to add it in to your daily schedule.
Compliment
It only takes a few seconds to give out a compliment every day but it can make a lasting effect in someone else’s life. You never know what someone else is going through and how simply showing them a little bit of kindness may do for their mood. Take the extra 10 seconds to tell your friend how awesome her presentation was or let that stranger know that their unique shoes caught your eye. You have nothing to lose and so much to give.
