Creative Spaces aims to inspire creatives from all walks of life. We love to peek into the spaces that people find help them be their most creative. Whether it’s a local coffee shop or co-working space, or a personal home office that’s designed and decorated to ensure a creative atmosphere, we love getting a chance to see what spaces help you create!
This week, Amber is taking us on a tour of her favorite creative space, Elixr. Take it away, Amber!
I’m the kind of person who absolutely cannot get work done at home. It takes extreme weather conditions and a lot of willpower to log more than one or two productive hours in my apartment. There are too many distractions and, because I live alone, no accountability.
I make it a point to get most of my blogging and freelance work done outside of the house. When you work a full-time job, coming home to get more work done can make it feel like you’re never done working. It’s kind of discouraging, which is why I think escaping to a coffee shop works for me.
I’m lucky to have lots of great coffee shops right in my backyard, but I always rely on a select few to head to when I really need to dive into my to-do list.
Elixr Coffee is one of my favorites and consistent go-tos. The coffee is always strong and delicious, it’s full of light and open space and the seating completely inspires community and collaboration.
There are plenty of seats and an abundance of outlets, which is always a plus. One wall always has a new art display, created by a local artist, as does the wall outside. See what I mean by inspiring community and collaboration? I always look forward to seeing the new displays.
I typically head in, grab a seat at the larger family-style table or one of the smaller window seats. I order either an iced coffee or latte (sometimes a matcha latte if I need a boost but don’t want coffee) and a bagel and cream cheese. I don’t know how they do it, but their cream cheese is magic and worth every single calorie. Trust me.
At any given point in the day, there are tons of people inside the coffee shop working, reading, side hustling, collaborating. It’s super motivating to me, and feels more like coming into the office than just another cafe. From med students with huge text books to developers in manic coding mode, it’s a hub for everyone and anything. That’s what makes this space so special –that you become a part of something bigger and inspiring the moment you stop in.
Thanks Elixr for powering my side hustle and my caffeine addiction simultaneously.
