As an Orlando native, I grew up at Downtown Disney. I spent hot summers as a child running through the fountains and exploring the displays at The World of Disney. I spent my teenage years listening to new music at the Virgin Mega Store. When I was 18, John and I even had our first date at Disney Quest.
Unlike some of the changes that Walt Disney World has made recently, I am a huge fan of their recent improvements. Downtown Disney has fully evolved into Disney Springs. The shops, restaurants, and entertainment that made Downtown Disney a sought after destination remain and numerous new options have been added.
If you will be spending anytime in Orlando this summer you should head to the Town Center at Disney Springs. Even if you have been to the Disney Springs area before (formerly Downtown Disney) enough has changed that it is virtually unrecognizable.
I took a morning stroll through Disney Springs yesterday to check out some of their new offerings. The architecture, design, and details throughout the entertainment complex completely blew me away. While we still have a little longer to wait for shops like Anthropologie and Free People, there are plenty of shopping and dining options to hold us over. I’m most excited for the following:
