For my recent birthday, John and I decided to take a four day trip to Charleston. Traveling in January always has its pros and cons. While the weather can be less than desirable during this time of year, the deals are normally fantastic. It was overcast three out of the four days that we were there but luckily it didn’t last all day and we didn’t let that stop us from having fun. On the contrary, I find overcast weather to be quite enjoyable, as long as I don’t have to work!
We spent our first few hours in Charleston exploring Waterside Park, which was luckily just two blocks from our hotel. I can see why Waterside Park is the #4 rated thing to do in Charleston on Trip Advisor. Not only are the views of the water absolutely stunning, but the park itself is very beautiful. John and I explored the walkways and took in the views from various areas throughout the park. If you are in Charleston, this is a completely free way to spend a few relaxing hours, surrounded by paradise.
