“Follow your passion. It will lead to your purpose.” –Oprah Winfrey
There is a lot of pressure in our society to make money and have a certain kind of success. In searching for a particular kind of success, a lot of people lose themselves along the way. After achieving the success that society has told you that you want, it is not uncommon to experience that it is actually not as fulfilling as you believed it would be. Having large amounts of money does not always translate into happiness and working towards goals that are not what you are actually passionate about can be unfulfilling.
Many people just live in the house of lies that they have built, pretending and desperately trying to be happy. Others decide to make a change. Whether it is a career change, a lifestyle change, or some other major change, this is a perfect time to actually follow your passion.
Once upon a time we all had ideas of a future that had no limits. Go ahead and allow yourself to imagine that kind of future again. Take the time to ask yourself what you were once passionate about and if it would be possible to regain that passion. Whether it is dancing, cooking, or science, don’t be afraid to jump back into it and see if you love it like you once did.
If you do still hold that passion for it then congratulations! If you don’t it’s time to try something new. Try new things and gain new experiences. Don’t be afraid to not be great at everything. Trying these new things will allow you to find a clearer path to your new passions.
An added benefit to following your passion will be all the new people you can meet who have the same interests that you do. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people will help remind you why you are getting out of your comfort zone and following your dreams.
Following your passion always leads to your purpose. You may find a great new hobby that makes you feel whole or you may find a whole new career. You may find the happiness and peace of mind that you have been searching for and you may find a better reason to get up every morning. Whatever you find will certainly lead you to brighter days ahead, a stronger sense of self, and a life full of purpose.
