Last year, instead of making a list of resolutions, I decided to focus on a specific word. The word I choose was BRAVE and I put it into everything I did this year. I used bravery in my business decisions, in my marriage, and in my relationships. I was brave to the best of my ability when trying new things, going to new places, or putting myself in new situations. There were times that I fell short of the title of brave but, I worked hard to quickly correct that and give every situation all the bravery I could muster. Focusing on the word brave helped me leave friendships that were not right for me, embark on business ventures that I would normally be too insecure for, and get out of my comfort zone for new adventures.
This year I will go from being a full time Photographer to being a full time Business Branding and Social Media Consultant. I will still be running my photography businesses, but I will be focusing on fine art and portraits while only taking on a small amount of boudoir. I will also still be the CEO of Equal and Forever. I have quite a few other plans for 2016 which include a podcast, some speaking gigs, more writing, travel, continuing to get healthier and fit, and a few secret projects that I can’t tell you about just yet.
In order to accomplish all of the tasks that lay before me I am going to need a whole lot of one specific thing.
Passion.
Our reality is that life is short and we get one chance on earth to live the life of our dreams. My dream is a life filled with passion. I’ve been lucky that so far I have been able to have a career that I am passionate about but, as I kick my career into high gear in 2016 and start to take on more side projects, I need to make sure that passion is at the forefront of all that I do. I want to have the passion and positive energy to live the life of my dreams and help others do the same.
What is your word (or words) for 2016? Come tell me on twitter or facebook and let’s keep each other inspired to make 2016 the best year ever!
