Take a compliment graciously.
Do you ever find yourself changing the subject, ignoring it completely, or even being a little mean when someone gives you a compliment? Too often I hear other women receive a genuine compliment, only to change the subject or ignore it and act like it didn’t happen. I have also seen someone receive a genuine compliment and respond sarcastically. I am not sure what has made some people in this world believe that they are not worthy receivers of positive compliments but they are and so are you.
Learning to receive a compliment is a very important part of the self love process. Other people can see you as smart, witty, resourceful, good looking, and talented but if you don’t see yourself that way, it won’t matter what they believe. Remember that everyone has something about them that makes them absolutely amazing and there is nothing wrong with accepting that side of yourself and appreciating when other people acknowledge it. The next time someone pays you a compliment, graciously say thank you for it and don’t be afraid to smile because you know what they said is absolutely true.
