If you follow me on Twitter, then you have been hearing a lot about what I am thankful for this month. I always think of Thanksgiving as one large celebration of all of the things that I am thankful for. I guess this is why my family celebrates Thanksgiving a bit differently than most people. We do have a few traditional plates at our meal like broccoli casserole and mashed potatoes but we skip the turkey and spend time on Italian and Thai dishes. If there is anything that my family is thankful for when it comes to cuisine, Italian and Thai are definitely at the top of the list.
We also have the tendency to make way too much food. We always end up with more food left over than what we actually ate for dinner. I love organizing all the left overs and giving them to people who really need them. I am thankful to have food every day so I am celebrating that by giving food to others.
After dinner, my family likes to immediately start preparing for Christmas since it is our favorite time of year. We sit in the living room while I bake fresh cookies and we talk about what we are thankful for this year and what we are looking forward to during December and the following year. When the cookies are still warm and ready to eat, we kick off the Christmas season by watching my all time favorite movie, Elf. We try our best not to quote every line and sing along with the soundtrack but we usually can’t help ourselves.
