As a person who loves lists, I am constantly listing out and reevaluating my personal and professional goals. This makes finding a New Years resolution difficult because I am trying to be the best version of myself all throughout the year and I have most likely already started working on what I would like to improve when January 1st rolls around. That’s why this year, instead of making a regular resolution, I am going to focus on the goals I have already made for myself as well as taking the time to focus on one word. This year, that word is brave.
Bravery is often overlooked in our society but I have always thought that it is one of the most admirable qualities a person can possess. This year I want to focus on both small and large acts of bravery that I can incorporate into my every day life. This world needs people who are not afraid to stand up and provide a voice for those who don’t have one. This world needs individuals who are not afraid of fighting the status quo even if people think it can’t be changed. Most of all, this world needs people who are brave enough to be true to themselves. So this year, in moments of weakness, when I am unsure if I am capable or have the nerve to do what I need to, I will focus on this short but powerful word and let is give me the courage to be brave.
